Как сделать вывод краткого описания статей в результатах поиска по статьям?

Наверное использовать метку ARTICLE_SHORT_DESCRIPTION в шаблоне /templates/шаблон/module/articles.html

+ может быть ещё в /articles.php поменять:

При замене кода выдало ошибку:

1054 - Unknown column 'ad.articles_head_desc' in 'field list' | select ad.articles_name, ad.articles_head_desc, a.articles_date_added, a.articles_date_available, a.articles_id, ad.articles_description from articles_description ad inner join articles a on ad.articles_id = a.articles_id where a.articles_status = '1' and ad.language_id = '1' and и тд

А посмотрите через phpMyAdmin, в таблице articles_description есть колонка articles_head_desc ?!

Попробуйте поменять articles_head_desc на articles_head_desc_tag
